Job Description

Key Responsibilities of HSE Manager – (Health, Safety and Environment):

·       Support the development of OHS policies and programs

·       Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)

·       Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures

·       Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation

·       Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives

·       Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)

·       Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.

·       Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy

·       Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims

·       Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management

·       Develops and implements quality control plans, programs and procedures which include ISO 9001, HACCP, SOP’s and SSOP’s.

·       Ensures that the performance and quality of goods and services in company branches are complying with the requirements of international Food Control Authority.

·       Plans and conducts Internal Audits and submit related reports.

·       Identifies corrective & preventive actions and follow up implementation.

·       Designs and implements review process to ensure ISO 9001 standards, HACCP, SOP and SSOP programs, manuals and practices are up to date and implemented.

·       Review and give feedback on new or revised ISO 9001 standards, Quality procedures, policies and work instructions.

·       Ensures an optimal degree of safe and proper usage of pest control measures to eliminate pest by developing and maintaining Pest Control Management Program

·       Provides guidance to departments for document control and record keeping.

·       Prepares agenda and minutes of the meeting during management review meeting related to Quality Management System.

·       Implementing environmental policies and practices

·       devising strategies to meet targets and to encourage best practice

·       devising the best tools and systems to monitor performance and to implement strategies

·       ensuring compliance with environmental legislation

·       assessing, analyzing and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients and regulatory bodies

·       confirming that materials, ingredients and so on are ethically or environmentally sourced

·       providing environmental training to staff at all levels

·       keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives including international legislation where applicable

·       liaising with regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency

·       Sample collecting for microbial testing

·       Record test results and maintain appropriate documentation

·       Select produce samples for food safety, time study, and quality control testing

·       Assist with enforcing food safety program and procedures, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice ) policy, and personnel hygiene policies

·       Responsible for produce quality inspections and proper storage

·       Responsible for quality checks for outgoing produce as well as returned product.  Verify and communicate to appropriate departments any findings as relate to food safety and/or quality issues.

·       Report and assist with correcting any unsanitary conditions in food storage areas as well as employee work areas

·       Assist with maintenance of food prep and packaging equipment, surfaces, tools

·       Help develop, maintain, and update all records, manuals, training procedures, product spec books as pertain to food safety and quality control

·       Assist with preparation for any and all food safety audits

·       Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of warehouse

·       Perform other duties as required by Management.

·       Performs regular fire safety inspections of all facilities, ensuring that they meet all necessary codes and regulations. They also respond to fire emergencies and arson crimes, investigating and reporting the causes of fire and taking appropriate responsive actions.

·       In order to adhere to laws and policies, the Fire Safety Officer must remain up-to-date on all local and federal codes and regulations. They are also often responsible for acquiring necessary buildings permits, so they must remain knowledgeable of the permit procedures and requirements.

·       Maintenance is an important part of the Fire Safety Officer’s job. He or she must maintain all fire safety equipment in the building, such as fire extinguishers and other fire-suppression equipment, replacing dysfunctional equipment when it cannot be fixed.

·       Being the local expert in fire safety means that the Fire Safety Officer is also responsible for providing education and training to all company and facility staff members. They must ensure that staff is adequately aware of fire safety code and preventative measures in order to facilitate the safety of a building and its employees and reduce violations.

·       After inspecting buildings, if the Fire Safety Officer has identified any code violations or failures to adhere to appropriate regulations, he or she is responsible for addressing these violations. This can include performing maintenance, submitting work orders for building updates, and implementing any necessary disciplinary actions.
